A packet of playing cards is placed onto the table and two small envelopes are also introduced. A spectator is asked to name any playing card from within the packet.

The performer announces that the envelopes each contain a piece of card with a single digit printed on. The pieces of card are removed and placed side by side to form a two digit number. The envelopes are shown to be otherwise empty. The spectator counts down to the created number and looks at the card occupying that position in the packet. Incredibly, the card arrived at matches that named by the spectator exactly.
