Punch Deal by Edward Marlo
Edward Marlo is considered one of the most important figures in 20th century card magic and has written more about card magic than probably anyone else. He was also highly skilled. On this short tutorial he shows you how to “punch” cards and how to use them in magic or card games.
The instructional video begins with Marlo performing a seven-handed Poker deal with a shuffled and cut deck. He deals himself the full house he mentioned at the beginning of the demonstration.
Marlo then teaches you how to put the “punch work” into an ordinary deck of cards using items you can find around the house instead of spending money on a gambler’s card punch.
After putting in the “punch work” Marlo teaches the Poker demonstration he performed so you too can deal yourself winning hands from a shuffled deck.
The main sleight-of-hand technique required for using the punch deal in a gambling demonstration is the second deal. Marlo’s favorite technique for the move is his No Touch Theory Second Deal and that is what he teaches next.
To close off of video Marlo tells the story of the time he used the punch deal in a real poker game and how often he practices.
