The discussion is presented from both a professional and contestant’s perspective. These are essential skills for standing out from other magicians. Shrinking Clothes: A series of “tendon-style” magic tricks where shoes, jackets, etc., shrink to an impossible degree. These ideas are usable in magic bars, parlors, and stage shows. The book introduces creative techniques for abstracting existing phenomena and applying them to different objects. These creative techniques are useful when creating your own unique and original acts for shows. Joker tells me: The Joker tells the audience member where their card is, but a twist awaits. This explains how to make magic more entertaining by adding “relationships.” Creating a relationship between the performer and the Joker adds depth to the show. Numerous examples of collaborations with other magicians are also introduced. Clay Chip: A magic trick where a poker chip is softened and reshaped into a different form. A trick that maintains mystery while ultimately eliciting a “cute!” reaction. This introduces performance techniques that not only create mystery but also evoke the desired reactions and emotions from the audience. It also covers audience emotional management and structuring for performances and shows lasting 10 minutes or more. 4th Lecture: Sunday, June 12th, 1:00 PM A groundbreaking lecture in the magic industry! / A hugely popular magician who is shaking the world! SORA Thinking that he might become popular with girls if he could do magic, he began teaching himself magic in the first grade of elementary school. He started his career in earnest in 2010 and won the grand prize in two categories at an international competition held in Malaysia in 2014. In 2018, footage of his appearance on the popular overseas show “Got Talent” was viewed more than 20 million times on YouTube, generating a huge response worldwide. His solo live show “Private Magic Live “13””, which he has been holding since 2019, sells out in just 5 minutes after tickets go on sale, despite ticket prices exceeding 10,000 yen, making it the most difficult magic show in Japan to get tickets for. Currently, he mainly performs at private parties and cruise ships both domestically and internationally, captivating audiences with his calm demeanor and unique sense of humor. [Media Appearances] CTS (Taiwan) “POWER SUNDAY” , BBC (UK) “Now You See It” , TV Asahi “Kis-My-Magic” , BS Nippon Television “Next Generation Magicians: Divine Skills 4” , TV Asahi “Oscar! A must-see for those who frequently perform magic live! “The Theater of Flawed Movies” A coincidence effect performed using movie titles. The performer takes out two packets. Each packet has two different movie titles written on it, such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Beast”.The two packets are mixed together, and pairs are made according to the guest’s instructions, but something interesting happens. This routine was created not just to match cards, but to think about how to make mismatches entertaining. “MIMIC” A very surreal magic trick with preconceptions as its theme.Red and blue candies are placed in a paper bag and mixed together, and one is taken out without looking inside. The magician asks guests what color the remaining candy is in the paper bag, but a surprising twist awaits. This is the magic he performs at the beginning of his shows. The mechanism is very simple, but through this piece he talks about “why he performs this at the beginning” and “how he creates his own unique magic.” ‘SHAKURE PADDLE’ is a paddle routine he performed when he was the manager of a magic bar.Whether it’s mysterious or not, as far as he knows, there is no other paddle trick in the world that gets a better reaction. One paddle is enough to entertain 5 or 6 guests.A must-see for bar magicians. ‘Sympathy Fruits’ This trick uses five fruits and pieces of paper with their pictures on them. The five fruits are placed in a paper bag and set on a table. A guest is given scissors and asked to randomly cut one spot on the back of the paper. When the paper is turned over, the picture of a lemon is cut in half. Looking inside the paper bag, only the lemons are neatly cut in half, just like the picture the guest cut. Now the paper is turned over and the guest is asked to choose one fruit…but there is an unexpected twist at the end. I will also teach you the rule I value when creating magic: “making a flat trick three-dimensional.” ‘La Bottle Production’ This is a bottle production that I performed at a magic convention in Taiwan, and it can be done even in just your underwear. No jacket or holder is needed. Be sure to check out the crazy solution. “As far as I know, this is the most mysterious bottle production in the world. No matter how many times I watched the performance, it seemed impossible. And then I was amazed when I saw the method. The mechanism is extremely ingenious and artistic. You rarely come across an idea like this.” – Ponta the Smith, “Changes in Self-Evaluation” This lesson will teach you how to change the amount (number) written on a flip chart, in case you ever appear on “Good Fortune! Anything Appraisal Team”. The flip chart after the change can be handed to the customer. It is designed to be mysterious even to magicians. It can also be applied to various other things such as letters and pictures. Legends Week From two people who have been leading the magic industry Based on what we expect from today’s young people, and personal experiences such as “I wish I had done this when I was younger!” Learn the secrets to taking overwhelming shortcuts for all magicians. 5th Lecture: Saturday, June 18th, 1:00 PM Active on the front lines! / A seasoned professional among professionals Kazu Katayama From neighborhood associations to world championships. He has also had many media appearances, serving as the MC magician for the BS11 program “Magic Channel” for a year in 2013. He is also active as an illustrator. He has authored many books, which are considered bibles in the magic world. Lecture content Overview and Greeting Drawing from a vast body of work created through professional experience, this lecture will focus on carefully selected pieces suitable for salon magic. These are truly practical magic tricks that require no special preparation or environment, are not technically difficult, can be performed by large or small groups, and are simple yet effective. We will also explore the background of these tricks, their origins, and key points for performing them, considering how to present magic as a show and how to elevate them into memorable performances for the audience. This content will be invaluable for magicians who have opportunities to perform in front of general audiences. [ Silk Swap in an Envelope ] A red silk placed in an envelope and a blue silk held by the magician are swapped in an unbelievable way. This is a complete explanation of a trick that Kazu has been performing for the past 10 years on television and at various conventions, receiving great acclaim from both general audiences and magic enthusiasts. It uses the gimmick T.T. , which all magicians know, in a new way. It is a practical masterpiece that can be shown to both large and small audiences with compact props. [ Cup, Ball, Silk ] The magician takes balls out of thin air one after another and places them into a cup (paper cup). However, at the end, the balls inside the cup transform into silk. This is a modified version of Marconic’s cup trick, where the cups transform into silk. It has been praised and loved by many magicians. The transformed silk is also regular, so it is easy to incorporate into manipulation routines and is suitable for openings in salons and close-up shows. [Cards Climbing Up the Sleeve] Kaz’s version of Dr. Daily’s famous routine. Cards 1 through 10 are sequentially climbed up the performer’s sleeve. With just one deck of cards and no gimmicks, and as long as you’re wearing a jacket, you can perform it for large or small audiences. Furthermore, it’s not a card guessing trick. No table needed. No preparation needed. No direct interaction with the audience. It’s truly a practical magic trick. The effect is easy to understand and it’s useful for performing during intermissions, so it’s still performed on many stages today. Experience the power of classic magic.[Three Types of Grandma’s Necklace ] The basic effect is that a handkerchief tied with two ropes instantly slips free. Starting from the principle of this classic “Grandma’s Necklace,” we have created three works adapted for close-up, salon, and stage performances. The handkerchief slips out in the spectator’s hand, the box slips out along with the handkerchief when tied, and three silks slip out on command. Through these three works based on the same principle, we explore how to utilize the idea and how to present it in three different types of shows. 6th Lecture: Sunday, June 19th, 1:00 PM Time-Space Fantasist / Japan’s Proud Creator & Performer Dr. Leon (Hiro Sakai) He has appeared on numerous TV programs, including his own two-hour special, as well as shows like Trick Hunter and Downtown DX. He has provided his unique magic to David Copperfield and many other famous magicians. He has also worked on illusion productions for concerts by artists such as B’z, EXILE, and MISIA. In addition, he is active in a wide range of fields, including collaborating on the original stories for mystery events. Awards: He has received numerous awards, including the Masao Atsukawa Award, the Tenkai Ishida Award, the Houdini Award, the Tenyo Shokusai Award, and the Tenichi Shokusai Award. He is an official judge for FISM. The person behind the character is none other than Hiro Sakai. [The Square Mat] An instant prediction using a regular deck. An unexpected use of a close-up mat . This is a routine that he often performs for the general public. [Tricolor Fly] A three-fly using three different colored chips. There is no inconsistency in the colors of the moving chips. A complete routine that he actually performs in person, while explaining the development process. [Pet Compatibility Diagnosis] A piece created for a one-on-one online LIVE session. An appearance phenomenon performed in the opponent’s hand using a bucket. This is the first time it has been publicly revealed. [Sandwich Prediction] A routine in which the sandwich chosen by the audience from seven types of sandwiches is predicted. An original force is used that overcomes the shortcomings of a certain force. Special Week A special edition featuring international guests! Learn world-class magic and its philosophy. Learn the know-how necessary for the new generation to make a leap forward . 7th Lecture: Saturday, June 25th, 1:00 PM World-class technician / Thoroughly Be Natural Akira Fujii Appearing for the second time in our Lecture Marathon! He’s a regular contributor to our beginner-friendly lecture content, and as you all know, he’s also one of the world’s leading technicians. For this Special Week appearance, he’ll be focusing on his specialty: world-class sleight of hand. You’ll learn his philosophy for making tricks look natural, his use of offbeats, and other know-how that will also be useful in the magic he performs. To be honest, it’s not easy. We recommend studying card techniques beforehand. Watching “Beyond the Basic Palming” and “Control Collection” will help you understand the explanation more easily. [Multiple Palming (Receiver-led)] We will explain two types of action palming. One is a method of palming several cards from the bottom after performing a false cut, and the other is a method of palming from the top break upwards by turning the deck face up. [One-Finger Push-Through] A card that has been outjogged from the dealing position is pushed in with the index finger, but the pushed card is then injogged. The receiver can do something else with their dominant hand while pushing, so it is possible to eliminate any sense of control. [No Break Bus] We will explain a relatively simple and invisible pass that can be considered the result of Akira Fujii’s research on passes. [Raise Rise Fujii Version] It is moderately difficult and worth trying, but not as impossible as the original. We are confident in the cleverness of the sequence. It looks even more mysterious if you can do the one-finger push-through. [Impromptu Bottle Production] A good performance for learning offbeat. It is a trick that you may not be sure will work after hearing the explanation. It became a hot topic on social media, but we will explain in detail how it can be performed in the real world. [Patrick Page’s Coin Vanish] This is a coin vanishing technique that has fooled many renowned magicians at American conventions. It demonstrates that wonder can be conveyed even without visuals. [Linking Cigarettes] With the increasing trend towards smoking bans and growing reluctance to use cigarettes in public spaces, this explains how to use straws as an alternative. It also explains a routine using three straws, which is rarely shown except on DVD. [Mimic Ice] This is a surprise you’ll have to see for yourself. Those who perform in bars will surely love it. [Jet Coins (Wanderer)] This explains a practical routine that is easy to understand even at a distance of 4-5 meters in a salon. We will also share tips on the muscle pass, which is unique to the Wanderer. [New Sonic Coins] We have created a Coins Across routine using four coins, including a magnetic coin. It is a simple, easy-to-remember, and very clean routine. We will explain it and sell it. Special guest *Archive purchase not available 8th Special Lecture, Sunday, June 26th, 1:00 PM – Charlie Fry One of the world’s leading performers! His first ever lecture translated into Japanese! As a magic shop that embraces the concept of “performers,” we have invited Charlie Frye, a performer who delivers overwhelmingly entertaining performances, as our special guest to conclude our lecture marathon! Haven’t you all thought about combining juggling, comedy, mime, and magic at some point? He is a performer who combines and elevates all of these elements at a high level. Normally, his lectures can only be taken at world-class events such as FISM, but this time, we have made his first ever online lecture a reality! Of course, we have also prepared an interpreter to ensure you can accurately understand his thoughts. Surprisingly, this is the first time his words have been translated into Japanese. The lecture will cover themes such as his character theory, routine construction, and creativity process. This is a lecture that we highly recommend to all magicians! It is especially a must-see for those who work in or want to work in performance. It is a fitting finale to the series. Please look forward to it!
