Bob Cassidy was a giant in the mentalsim field. He created many outstanding routines, strategies and presentations that influenced the way mentalists perform. He added a refreshing directness and intelligence to everything he did and was a founder of the Psychic Entertainers Association.
Perhaps his greatest stand-alone routine and the one he used to open most of his shows is Chronologue. He licensed a marketed version but the original version he used was a little different.
On this video he goes into great detail on the best way to make your own set of diaries, how to handle them, how to perform with them and the best ways to end the routine.
Bob likes to refer to this as a card trick that doesn’t use any cards. The basic and direct effect is simple. A spectator names any date. You hand them your calendar diary and show them that a random playing card is written on each date. They go to the date they named and see what card is written there. Amazingly it is the card that you predicted.
