After Top Secret Volume 1 , I Improvise , and our duo conference , I’m teaming up with Bébel again for a program entirely dedicated to one of the great techniques of card magic: palming . And when I say dedicated to palming, I don’t just mean learning how to take the top card of the deck with a classic palm! For 4 hours and 50 minutes , Bébel offers a true exploration of palming in all its forms: one card, several cards, from the top, the bottom, the middle of the deck, from a small packet, from a ribbon spread on the table, during a shuffle, with one hand… How did this project come about? The idea for this program didn’t even originate with us! A Magic-VOD client contacted me after enjoying our program on the cut with Fabrice Prin . He pointed out that there was very little video material in French that allowed for a serious and in-depth study of palming . I found his observation particularly accurate and immediately thought of Bébel. Bébel accepted the project without the slightest hesitation. Passionate about all card magic techniques, he has studied palming for years and in an impressive number of different forms. So we set up the cameras… and nearly 5 hours later , the problem was solved: there is now a complete video program in French dedicated to palming! Much more than just a classic palm. The first thing this program shows is that there isn’t just “one” palm. Bébel covers, in particular, different ways of secretly holding a card in your hand: – classic palming; – Flat card; – Finger grip; – Tenkai; – Cop Palm; – and various other variations and subtleties. But successfully placing a card in your hand is only the beginning of the problem. What do you do when the card is palmed? This is an aspect rarely studied in detail, yet absolutely essential. How do you maintain a natural hand position? How do you move when you conceal a card? How do you pick up an object? How do you place your hands on the table? How do you cross your arms? How do you touch a spectator’s arm? How do you release and then pick up a palmed card? Bébel demonstrates numerous techniques and tricks that allow you to maintain a normal hand position while secretly holding a card. The goal isn’t simply for the card to be invisible. The goal is for no one to suspect that a card is in your hand. Dozens of ways to palm. Throughout the program, Bébel details an impressive number of techniques. You will learn how to palm a card: – from the top of the deck; – from the bottom; – from the middle; – with or without a break; – during a tie; – with the deck placed on the table; – from a deck spread out in a ribbon; – by turning the ribbon over; – from a small packet; – during an American-style shuffle; – during a French shuffle; – during a Faro shuffle; – with one hand; – and many other ways. Bébel also draws on various approaches from the work of card magic greats like Dai Vernon, Erdnase, Marlo, Braue, Max Malini, and Larry Jennings , to which he adds his own adaptations and subtleties. Multiple Palms Why limit yourself to a single card? A significant portion of the program is dedicated to palming multiple cards . How to pick them up cleanly, how to keep a deck of cards hidden in your hand, how to manage the positions, and above all, how to actually use these techniques in a routine. One-Handed Palming Bébel also devotes considerable time to techniques for secretly palming a card with one hand . Several methods, positions, and variations are studied with, as always with Bébel, particular attention paid to the small details that make the difference between a technique that is simply feasible and one that is truly deceptive. And how to return the cards? This is yet another essential topic. Once a card is palmed, it has to go somewhere! Bébel therefore dedicates an entire chapter to the different ways of secretly returning palmed cards to the deck . Palming is only truly useful when taking and returning the card can be seamlessly integrated into the flow of a trick. Techniques… but also real tricks! We obviously didn’t want to create nearly five hours of video consisting solely of technical exercises. The program is therefore regularly punctuated with complete routines in which Bébel uses the principles and techniques studied. You will discover, in particular: The Card in the Box: A particularly direct effect presented in two versions before its detailed explanation. Doc Daley’s Sandwich: A very effective use of palming applied to a sandwich routine. Mabillon 2026: A complete routine in which several of the studied principles truly come into play. Appearance of the Aces on the Ribbon : The appearance of the four Aces directly from the deck spread out on the table. A step ahead. A routine that some already know, but which Bébel takes advantage of here to go much further in the explanations and possibilities. Appearance of the Four Aces #2 Another way to use the techniques studied to produce the four Aces. The Hidden Collector A routine in which palming allows an essential part of the work to be secretly performed. Flying Over a Case A particularly interesting use of palming around the deck case. Square Leitmotif A final routine that this time allows the Cop technique to be used for a truly magical effect. The program also covers secret changes , the Cop Palm , the Max Malini palming , various subtleties of one-handed palming, and many other techniques. At one point during filming, we even created a chapter entitled: “Palmings – The List Is Still Long!” Which ultimately sums up this program quite well! 4:50 with Bébel This new project is part of a collaboration that has now lasted for several programs: Top Secret Volume 1 , I Improvise , our duo conference , and now In Hand . And the adventure isn’t over yet, as Top Secret Volume 2 will also be released in 2026. With En main propre (Hand-Delivered) , we wanted to build a veritable toolbox around palming. Whether you’re discovering this technique or have been using it for a long time, chances are Bébel will be able to show you methods, subtleties, and applications you’d never even considered.
